Travelling through the Kimberley Region - By Grace

Kununurra
After Lake Argyle we went back to Kununurra for the agriculture show. We got there and had a look around, then went to the circus and the man taught us how to do some tricks.

Next we tasted some yummy fruit, looked in the exhibition hall that had all sorts of different styles of art, then we went back to find our car had run out of battery, but luckily a very nice man jumped started our car.

That night we stayed in a side of the road free camp called Dunham River. On the way there, we almost hit a bull. We got there late and left first thing in the morning.

Leycester
We went to another free camp called Leycester. When we got there we met a very lovely couple. Their names were Bronwyn and Colin. They played games with us the whole time. They were very nice.

On the other day that we were there, we went to the Bungle Bungles. It was good, but exhausting. The road to the Bungle Bungles was very rough and we had to walk many hours in the heat. We went to the domes (known as the Bungle Bungles), Cathedral Gorge (where we sang), and several other lookouts. Dad also tried to use his drone.

Fitzroy Crossing
We then took a break from the free camping, and went to Fitzroy Crossing Lodge Caravan Park. As soon as we parked our van, we spotted the Franke family again, and they were right next to us.

Unfortunately, they left the next day. That day we went to Geikie Gorge. We enjoyed the walk through the limestone, at the Gorge we spotted lots of Freshwater Crocodiles. The next day we left Fitzroy Crossing and went to Derby.

Derby
We first went for a walk whilst dad unpacked, and guess who we saw in a Coffee shop? Ray Martin!

The next day we drove on another bumpy road to Windjana Gorge. We saw HEAPS of big fat Freshwater crocodiles. Mum said that she counted over 30! We got so close to one, and took a close up picture.

We then went to Tunnel Creek. We walked from one end of the tunnel to the other side, and back. We saw some frogs, there were some small cold parts of the creek that we had to cross, and the water went up to our knees. Tunnel Creek was awesome but you need  to bring a torch!

The next day we saw the Prison Boab tree, visited an art gallery and then left Derby to go to Willie Creek for some more free camping.

Willie Creek
We are almost at Broome, but we first stay at another free camp called Willie Creek. We got there just before dark so we didn't have time to explore.

On our first full day, dad went fishing and caught a Golden and a Diamond Trevally. After that we went for a walk along the beach, discovered some small caves and made things in the sand. Then for afternoon tea we had fresh damper with jam and cream at the pearl farm.

After that we had a wander around the pearl farm and had a look at the fish. Just before sunset we found a nice spot on the rocks near our camp and made a fire in the middle. We cooked potatoes and fish on the fire, it was DELICIOUS!

On our last day in Willie Creek, dad went fishing and caught another Golden Trevally, then we went for another walk and played in the sand again. While dad went fishing he found a perfectly good crab net, BONUS! Then again in the afternoon, we lit a fire and cooked the fish on the fire.

The next day we left Willie Creek, off to Broome!

Broome
When we got to Broome, guess what we did first? Catch up on 7 days worth of washing! We then did a big shop, after that we went to Cable Beach to catch up with Caroline and Wayne. We watched the sunset with them and it was beautiful. We also watched the camels go by too.

In the morning we did school work while dad went fishing on the boat hire with Wayne. While they were fishing, mum, Emma, Jai and I went for a bike ride to get a second breakfast! Then we went back to the caravan park to have a quick swim and get some school work done. Then after that, mum, Emma, Jai, Emma, Mum, Caroline and I joined Wayne and Dad on the boat that they hired. We firstly went out to look for some whales, there were HEAPS. By the end of the boat ride, dad and Wayne caught School Mackeral, Chinaman fish, Red Emperor and Grassy Emperor. At the end of the boat hire we went to see the Staircase to the Moon, but the man at the boat hire told us the wrong time so we went to the RSL with Caroline and Wayne instead.

On our 3rd day, we got mum's personal training assignment done, then had an AWESOME time on the camel rides. If you go on the camel rides in Broome, go on the blue Camels because they give you free earrings and a few discounts on other things around Broome. Afterwards we headed off to look at some dinosaur footprints. At the time we were there, people were flying a drone so they could do some research. We then went to see the Staircase to the Moon and had Dominos for dinner.

The next day we had a wander around town and just chilled. The next day we went to the markets for lunch then went to the Malcolm Douglas Crocodile Farm, you must go there! It made mum be a little less fearful of crocodiles. The crocs were HUGE and impressive and we taught a parrot to say HELLO. We had a great time there.

On our last day in Broome, we made a jewellery shop and sold items to people in the park, in total made $9.10. The rest of the day we hung around in the pool.

We had a great time in Broome. I would really like to go back again!
